Author Guidelines

Jurnal Aceh Medika publishes original research, case reports, and review articles in maternal and child health, public health, health policy, and reproductive health (see Focus and Scope). Please read these guidelines, the Journal Policies, and How to Submit a Manuscript before you submit. Download the templates and forms from Supporting Files.

1. Article types

  • Original Research: 3,000 to 5,000 words, excluding abstract, tables, and references.
  • Case Report: up to 3,000 words, with written consent for publication from the patient or guardian.
  • Review Article: up to 6,000 words; systematic reviews should follow PRISMA.

2. Language

Write in English (preferred) or Indonesian. The title, abstract, and keywords must always be in English. Please have the manuscript proofread by a professional before you submit.

3. Files to upload

  1. Manuscript from the Article Template (.docx), anonymised for double-blind review.
  2. Title Page with all authors, affiliations, ORCID iD, and the corresponding author.
  3. Copyright and Originality Statement, signed by every author (PDF scan).
  4. Conflict of Interest Form for each author (PDF scan).
  5. Ethical approval letter, or the research permit if the study did not need ethical review.
  6. Similarity report (Turnitin or equivalent) with overall similarity of no more than 20%.
  7. Consent for Publication (case reports and identifiable details only) and Cover Letter (recommended).

4. Manuscript structure

  • Title: informative, maximum 20 words.
  • Abstract: 150 to 250 words with Background, Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusion. Keywords: 3 to 5, preferably MeSH terms.
  • Main text: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion. State the reporting guideline you followed (STROBE, CONSORT, CARE, PRISMA).
  • Declarations before the references: Author Contributions (CRediT), Funding, Conflict of Interest, Ethical Approval, Informed Consent, Data Availability, and AI Usage Statement.
  • References: Vancouver style (ICMJE), numbered in order of citation, at least 20 references, mostly primary sources from the last 10 years, with DOI where available.

6. Double-blind review

Remove author names, institutions, and acknowledgments from the manuscript, and remove your name from the file properties. Cite your own earlier work in the third person. See the Peer Review Process.

Submission Preparation Checklist

  • The manuscript is original, has not been published before, and is not under consideration by another journal (or an explanation is given in Comments for the Editor).
  • The manuscript follows the Article Template, is in .docx format, and contains all the Declarations (Author Contributions, Funding, Conflict of Interest, Ethical Approval, Informed Consent, Data Availability, AI Usage Statement).
  • The manuscript is anonymised: author names, institutions, and file properties are removed.
  • The Title Page, the signed Copyright and Originality Statement, and a Conflict of Interest Form for each author are uploaded as separate files.
  • The ethical approval letter or research permit is uploaded, and Consent for Publication is uploaded for case reports.
  • The similarity report is uploaded, and the overall similarity is no more than 20%.
  • References follow Vancouver style, include DOI where available, and have been checked against the original sources.
  • Tables and figures are editable, are placed in the text, and follow the relevant reporting guideline.

Authors who publish with Jurnal Aceh Medika agree to the following terms:

  1. Authors keep the copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication. The article is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which allows others to share and adapt the work with credit to the authors and the first publication in this journal.
  2. Authors may make separate agreements for the non-exclusive distribution of the published version (for example in an institutional repository or a book), with an acknowledgment of the first publication in this journal.
  3. Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (for example in institutional repositories or on their website) before and during submission, as this can lead to earlier and greater citation of published work.
