Abstract

Abstract: The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in various problems in various aspects of life, one
of which is disruption of the food supply chain, especially in the agricultural sector. Aquaponic
technology is a sustainable food production development model where the application of aquaponic
technology through community empowerment can provide solutions in optimal use of yard land to
support family nutrition and food, especially urban communities (urban farming). Aquaponics is
the concept of developing a bio-integrated farming system, which is an integrated farming system
between aquaculture and agriculture. This combination is seen as a simple technology, but capable
of producing multiple products, namely fish and plants simultaneously in one harvest cycle. The
purpose of this community service activity is to provide information and skills to the community,
especially housewives about fish and vegetable cultivation in Lamglumpang Village, Ulee Kareng
District, Banda Aceh City. The implementation of community service activities uses simple methods,
namely: participatory rular appraisal, participatory technology development, an approach of
appeal and support, a socialization approach, training and assistance as a means of knowledge
transfer and education for community empowerment. The results of this aquaponics training activity
indicate an increase in the ecological intelligence of the community before and after the training.
before the implementation of the training, the average value of the ecological competence of the
target community increased to 47 which was included in the very good category.
