Abstract

Abstract: The Covid-19 pandemic that has not shown an end for almost two years has resulted in
the family economy becoming more unstable. The number of workers who are temporarily housed
has an impact on family income, so that activities are needed that can improve the family
economy, such as gardening activities that can be done at home. The Covid-19 pandemic also
affected the people of Lam Glumpang village of Kuta Baroe district of Aceh Besar Regency. From
the results of identification it was found that natural resources in Lam Glumpang village are very
supportive for agricultural activities because they have good soil contours. The purpose of
community service activities is (1) To use stale rice waste into liquid organic fertilizer (POC)
products that can be directly applied directly to plants; (2) Utilizing the empty land of the
community to cultivate family medicinal plants (TOBA) so that the land can be useful in realizing
a healthy environment so as to improve the family economy; (3) Improving the knowledge and
skills of the community, especially mothers in the treatment of stale rice waste and the utilization
of land. Community service activities are carried out on August 5 - September 5, 2021. The
method of activities that will be carried out to achieve the objectives of community Service is the
method of lectures, discussions, direct practice and mentoring. The results of community service
activities show that participants are very enthusiastic in participating in all activities. Participants
of the activity already have basic knowledge about the treatment of used rice waste as raw
materials for making liquid organic fertilizers and about the types, benefits of medicinal plants as
well as family medicinal plant cultivation techniques but still very limited.
