Pembenahan Kandang Sapi: Solusi Dongkrak Produktivitas Sapi Potong di Gampong Bakoy Aceh Besar

Abstract


Abstract: The productivity of beef cattle in Aceh Besar, including in Gampong Bakoy, is lower compared to other areas due to the condition of the cattle sheds that do not meet the best practice standards for fattening cattle pens to be used as beef cattle. Livestock management is one of the production factors that has not received attention in beef cattle farming, especially in smallholder farms. Cages construction that does not comply with technical requirements disrupts livestock productivity and is less efficient in the use of labor. Conditions in pens that do not meet the technical requirements also have an impact on the surrounding environment and livestock health. In Gampong Bakoy, the condition of the cow breeders' stables is very apprehensive and far from the specified requirements. Poor housing conditions cause various cow diseases and air pollution. In order to improve the condition of the cowsheds in Gampong Bakoy, a pen was repaired which did not meet the requirements of a good cowshed. After being repaired, the barn conditions were much better and they were not susceptible to diseases that could hinder the growth of the cows. Thus, improving the conditions of the cowsheds in Gampong Bakoy can increase the productivity of beef cattle in the Aceh Besar region and provide comfort and health for cattle that will be used as beef cattle. In addition, improving the condition of the barn also has a positive impact on the surrounding environment and human health associated with beef cattle production.
