Pengetahuan Bahaya Merokok dengan Perilaku Merokok pada Mahasiswa Kedokteran dan Non Kedokteran di Universitas Abulyatama Aceh

Abstract

Smoking behavior is a problem that has not been solved until now. One of the goals of a healthy behavior and community empowerment program is a reduction in the prevalence of smokers and an increase in a healthy, smoke-free environment in schools, workplaces and public places. Five risk factors that can influence smoking behavior in a person are socio-demographic factors, social environment, psychological characteristics, lifestyle and the need for smoking. This study aims to determine the relationship of knowledge about the dangers of smoking with smoking behavior in medical and non-medical students at the Abulyatama University Aceh. This research uses descriptive analytic research with cross sectional design. The samples of this study were students of the Faculty of Medicine and non-Medicine at Abulyatama University. The results of study on medical students revealed that there is a relationship (p value = 0.01) between the level of knowledge with smoking behavior, there is no relationship (p value = 0.23) between smoking advertisements with smoking behavior, there is no relationship (p value = 0 , 41) between lifestyle and smoking behavior, there is a relationship (p value = 0.00) between the role of peers and smoking behavior. While the Non-Medical students there is no relationship (p value = 0.23) between the level of knowledge with smoking behavior, there is no relationship (p value = 0.23) between the role of advertising with smoking behavior, there is no relationship (p value = 0, 52) between lifestyle and smoking behavior and there is a relationship (p value = 0.00) between peers and smoking behavior. Suggestion in research is the importance of public knowledge about the dangers of smoking with the onset of smoking behavior.
