Abstract

The nutritional needs of infants up to the age of 6 months can be met only by providing breast milk alone or otherwise known as "exclusive breastfeeding". Exclusive breastfeeding is the provision of breast milk with no additional food in infants aged 0-6 months. The exclusive breastfeeding is inseparable from a cultural view that has been passed down from generation to generation in the culture itself. One of the factors that affect the health of children is a cultural factor where there is a direct link between culture and health. When researchers conducted observations with 7 out of 10 mothers with babies aged 0-6 months, they often gave formula milk as a supporter of exclusive breastfeeding, providing food such as bananas, biscuits and more. This is due to cultural factors that are still believed by the mother that if the baby is crying, less satiety directly given formula milk and other food additives. This study aimed to find out how the cultural relationship with exclusive breastfeeding in infants in Gampong Lambaro Skep Kuta Alam Kota Banda Aceh. This research used descriptive correlation design with cross sectional approach. The samples in this study were 52 respondents. The daata collection iswas done by distributing questionnaires. The results showed that from 52 respondents who had infants 0-6 months that there was a cultural influence on exclusive breastfeeding as much as 33 respondents (63.5%) with p-value (0.000). Based on the results, it can be concluded that each individual has a different culture.
