Abstract

One of the causes of maternal death in childbirth is experiencing childbirth complications. Complications of labor can occur due to problems in the delivery process, namely uterine contractions, cervical opening, fetal presentation location, position of the mother (errors that occur in the mother's position during labor) and psychological (problems that occur in the psychological response of the mother during labor). In the Mother and Child Hospital from January to December 2018 there were 544 cases of birth complications. This is due to the lack of public awareness that it is important to carry out Antenatal Care (ANC) and many do not understand the effects of difficult delivery on the fetus. This is a particular concern for researchers in an effort to reduce the prevalence. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of uterine contractions, cervical opening, presentation of fetal location, maternal position, maternal psychology, pre-eclampsia, bleeding, infection, between visits of pregnant women (Antenatal Care/ ANC), determinants of the most dominant normal delivery complications with distress fetus in the Maternity Room of the Mother and Child Hospital (RSIA) Banda Aceh in 2019. The research design used was a study using an observational method with a cross sectional approach, and the object of research was 112 pregnant women. The study was conducted for 2 months of March and April 2019 in the Maternity Room of the Mother and Child Hospital (RSIA) Banda Aceh.Data analysis using the chi-square test. The results of the statistical test showed that there was an association of uterine contractions OR: 4,31 P-Value: 0.001, cervical opening OR: 0.43 P-Value: 0.054, presentation of fetal OR location: 2,45 P-Value: 0.048, Mother's position OR: 4,57 P-Value: 0.001, maternal psychology OR: 9,10 P-Value: 0,000, pre-eclampsia OR: 3,57 P-Value: 0.004, and no infection relationship P-Value: 0.123, bleeding P-Value 0.066, Visitation of Pregnant Women (ANC) P- Value: 0.331. The hospitals in general expected to be able to improve communication, information, and education provided about complications in childbirth through counseling or health promotion of mothers and babies and to increase public knowledge about the dangers and effects of complications of childbirth on mothers and babies.
