Hubungan Rinitis Alergi Terhadap Penurunan Kualitas Hidup Pada Anak Usia 9-10 Tahun

Abstract


Allergic rhinitis is in inflammation of the nasal mucosa caused by type I hypersensitivity triggered by certain allergens with symptoms of sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion and an itchy nose. Allergic rhinitis is common in children, where the average age of an attack is 8 to 11 years, because children are more susceptible to exposure to allergens such as dust, cigarette smoke or other allergens. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of allergic rhinitis with decreased quality of life in children aged 9 to 10 years. This research design using cross-sectional method. Population 462 people, sampel determination using slovin formula which result 82 people. The sampling technique is stratified random sampling. Data were analyzed by using chi square. The result showed that of the total sampel of 82 people, 72 people suffered rhinitis allergic and largely decreased quality of life that is numbered 51 people, and which does not degrade the quality of life of 21 people. While respondents did not experience allergic rhinitis where 10 people, among them two people experience a reduced quality of life and 8 others were not. The statistical result show p value 0,003 < α0,05 which means Ha accepted and indicates there is a relationship of allergic rhinitis with decreased quality of life. The conclusion of this study is the relationship between allergic rhinitis and decrease quality of life in children aged 9 to 10 years in MIN 1 Banda Aceh.
