FAKTOR RESIKO KATARAK DI POLI MATA RSUD MEURAXA TAHUN 2018

Abstract



Abstract: Cataracts are eye diseases that are characterized by turbidity in the eye lens, which interferes with the
entry of light into the eye. Cataract in general is a diseases in older people, but it can also be found in newborns and
young people. Many factors influence the occurrence of cataracts, such as using steroids for a long time, congenital
abnormalities, metabolic and hormonal disorders, chronic exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light, and complications of
diabetes mellitus. Research Purposes: to find out the Risk Factors of Cataracts at Poli Mata Rumah Sakit Umum
Daerah Meuraxa Banda. Method: this research is a descriptive study with a sample of 63 respondents chosen using
the total sampling method. Result: the study found that the highest age was the elderly (41.3%), the highest sex is
male (58.7%), cataract patients who have no history of DM (76.2%), based on the visus of the cataract patients most
experienced severe low vision, namely (57.1%) right eye and (71.4%) left eye and blindness was obtained (50.8%).
Conclusion: from the results of this study, it is known that age> 66 years and sex are more dominant risk factors of
cataracts.
