Abstract


Breast milk is the first, main and best nutritional need for babies, although the benefits of breast milk are so great, not many mothers are willing or willing to give exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months. Based on data obtained from the Banda Aceh City Health Office in 2019, from 11 health centers in the Banda Aceh City Health Office Assisted Work Area. Data obtained from the Banda Raya Health Center, data on the number of postpartum mothers in 2020 were 520 people and in the period January to March 2021 as many as 559, while data on exclusive breastfeeding in 2019 was only 34.4% babies. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between breast care behavior and breast milk production in postpartum mothers in the Banda Raya Public Health Center, Banda Aceh City in 2021. The variables in this study consisted of the dependent variable was milk production and the independent variable was behavior (knowledge, attitudes and actions). This type of research is descriptive correlation, the population in this study are all postpartum mothers who live in the Banda Raya Public Health Center Work Area Banda Aceh, with a sample of 85 people using proportional random sampling technique, the study was carried out on 27 May to 10 June 2021 in the Banda Raya Health Center Work Area Banda Aceh City, the data is processed and the analysis is processed using the chi-square test. he results showed that there was a relationship between knowledge (p-value = 0.017), attitude (p-value = 0.005), action (p-value = 0.012) about breast care and milk production in postpartum mothers. It is hoped that this research can be used as information material for health workers, especially midwives in disseminating information about the importance of breast care so that it can increase mother's knowledge in smoothing breast milk expenditure and increase the rate of exclusive breastfeeding
