Abstract

Abstract: Sectio Caesarea is a surgery to give birth to children on the walls of the abdomen and uterus. In physically born babies will occur pulmonary fluid from the pulmonary lymphatic system and mechanical disturbance due to the normal vaginal examination that protrudes from the lungs. The increased volume of fluid causes decreased lung function and increases airway resistance to tachypnea and chest wall retraction. The objective of the study was to determine whether there was a relationship between Sectio Caesarea and Newborn Transient Tachypnea at Banda Aceh Maternal and Child Hospital. The design of this research used case control study with 85 respondents. The subjects of this study were all patients who had complete medical records, patients suffering from TTN with partners who were SC and not SC generally. Data were analyzed by chi-square test. Based on data showing that TTN babies born SC 69 people (81.2%) and not TTN born SC 21 (24,7%), whereas TTN born normal 16 (18,8%) and baby not TTN who were born normally 64 (75.3%). Bivariate analysis shows there is a relationship between the second variable. The result of chi square test has a sectio caesarea relationship with transient tachypnea of newborn (TTN) with p-value = 0,000 (p <0,05)
