PENGARUH PUASA TERHADAP POLA PENURUNAN KADAR GULA DARAH PADA PASIEN DIABETES MELLITUS TYPE 2 DI KECAMATAN PEUDADA

Abstract


Abstract: Diabetes Mellitus is a disease characterized by the occurrence of hyperglycemia and metabolic disorders of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins caused by a lack of insulin secretion in the body. Fasting can provide many benefits which can help lower blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes mellitus. This research was conducted to find out the effect of fasting on the level of decreased blood sugar levels in patients with Diabetes Mellitus type 2. The method used in this research was experimental. The total respondents were 10 patients chosen through random sampling technique. The results showed that the highest blood glucose concentration before the fasting (first test) was 501 mg/dL, and the highest blood glucose level of respondent after fasting (sixth test) was 289 mg/dL. ANOVA Repeated Measure analysis showed that there wasinfluence between fasting to the decrease in blood sugar levels in patients of type 2Diabetes Mellitus (p value = 0.004). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that further research is needed on the influence of other factors about the decrease in blood glucose levels. Health service institutions is expected to monitor and provide education to the public about prevention and treatment of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
