Abstract


Abstract: Acute Respiratory Tract Infection is an acute infection involving upper respiratory tract and lower respiratory tract. Factors that may affect acute respiratory infections are the environment, including air pollution such as cigarette smoke. From the results of the analysis is known that the effect of smoke cigarette smoke is greater for passive smokers than active smokers. This research is a descriptive analytic research with cross sectional research. The population in this study were all children who went to Polyclinic of Child Clinic Meuraxa Hospital. Samples were taken based on Accindential Sampling with total of 73 samples. There was a relationship between smoking behavior of parents and family members in the home with the incidence of acute respiratory infections in children with p = .005 (p ˂0,05)There is a relationship between smoking behavior of parents and family members in the home with the incidence of acute respiratory infections in children at the Meuraxa General Hospital.
