PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN LIMBAH TONGKOL JAGUNG TERHADAP KUALITAS SILASE RUMPUT SETARIA (Setaria sphaleta)

Abstract


Animal feed is one of the crucial components in livestock farming, directly influencing the quality and quantity of livestock production. The availability of high-quality forage often becomes a major challenge for farmers, especially during the dry season when forage production declines. Corncob waste, which has not been optimally utilized, can serve as an alternative additive in silage production. Corncobs contain crude fiber and nutrients that can contribute to the fermentation process and the quality of silage. This study aims to examine the effect of adding corncob waste on the quality of Setaria grass silage. The research employs a Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments include P0 with 20% corncob addition; P1 with 25% corncob addition; P2 with 30% corncob addition; and P3 with 35% corncob addition, per one kilogram of material per treatment. The observed parameters include moisture content, ash content, protein content, and fat content. The results were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The findings indicate that the addition of 35% corncob waste significantly affects the protein content, fat content, and ash content of Setaria grass (Setaria sphaleta).
