Abstract

Condenser is one of the recuperator type heat exchangers. A recuperator is one of the heat transfer devices that works where a fluid is separated by other fluids in a wall or partition that is passed by heat. According to its function the condenser can be used to condense vapor into liquid. Likewise with the vertical type spiral condenser, this model can also produce fuel that can be utilized for tertiary needs in daily life by conducting a condensation process on steam types of pyrolysis of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and PolyPropylene (PP) plastic. The purpose of this study was to determine the performance of vertical type spiral condensers with steam condensation resulting from the pyrolysis process of High density Polyethylene (HDPE) and PolyPropylene (PP) plastic. The writing method that the author uses to analyze and study this study refers to the experimental method. The results of the analysis showed that, steam condensation from HDPE type plastics occurred at 25 minutes after combustion with a temperature of 1500C inlet vapor and 330C outflow, whereas PP plastic vapor occurred at 55 minutes from initial combustion with 1700C inlet temperature and outflow 330C. The highest point of vapor condensation from HDPE and PP plastic types is at a temperature of 2000C with each type of plastic being burned is 3 kg. The overall volume of oil produced is 320 ml for HDPE plastic types and 340 ml for PP plastic types. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be stated that the vertical type spiral condenser is able to carry out the process of steam condensation resulting from the pyrolysis process of High density Polyethylene (HDPE) and PolyPropylene (PP) plastic
