Abstract

Calcium is one of the most important minerals in life. Oyster shell contained more than 60% of calcium carbonate. Calcium oxide (CaO) can be synthesized from natural calcium carbonate (CaCO3). The purpose of this research was to isolating calcium in nano size from raw materials of oyster shell by top down method and thermal decomposition and then calculating yield of  the decomposed CaO. Calcined samples nano size is at 900°C for 2, 4, 6 and 8 hours. The sequential data yield of nanocalcium obtained was 70.91%; 57.18%; 56.08% and 55.8%.
