Abstract

The Covid-19 epidemic at the beginning of 2020 has changed people's lives, especially in the education sector. This is done to break the chain of the spread of the corona virus and maintain the safety of students and also teaching staff. To avoid increasing cases, the Governor of Aceh has instructed through Number 440/1177/200 to carry out online learning activities at home. This study aims to determine the perception of mathematics education students towards online learning in Aceh. This study uses a qualitative descriptive analysis research instruments such as questionnaires distributed online with the help of Google form and interview. The population in this study are all mathematics education students studying at State and Private Universities in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar, the number of samples in this study was 238 students. The results of this study indicate that students have difficulty understanding the material when learning online, due to inadequate networks and feeling reluctant and embarrassed to ask lecturers. The results of the data from the distribution of questionnaires and interviews can be seen that on average the students do not like online learning. According to students, conventional (face-to-face) lectures are more comfortable and effective because students understand better when the lecturer explains directly, while online learning limits the movement of students to interact with lecturers and friends.
