Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 15% to 20% of all births globally are LBW, which represents more than 20 million births per year. In 2019 LBW births accounted for 14.9% of all births globally. LBW babies have a mortality risk 20 times greater than normal weight babies. Data from the Montasik Community Health Center in 2022 was recorded 309 pregnant women with 32 anemia conditions and a history of LBW 2 people and the incidence of LBW 35 people. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between anemia and LBW in the Montasik Community Health Center working area. The research design conducted was an analytic survey with a cross sectional approach.  The population and sample in this study were all mothers who gave birth in the Montasik Community Health Center working area from January 2023 to May 2023, totaling 88 people. The results of this study showed that there was relationship between anemia (ρ value 0.000) and the incidence of LBW in the working area of Community Health Center Montasik, Aceh Besar Regency in 2023. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between anemia and the incidence of LBW. It is suggested that pregnant women should always pay attention to their pregnancy, be aware of conditions that can cause mothers to give birth to LBW babies.
