Abstract


Article 27 (paragraph 2) of Law No. 11 of 2008 regarding  electronic information and transactions, contains  Any Person who knowingly and without authority distributes and/or transmits and/or causes to be accessible Electronic Information and/or Electronic Documents with contents of gambling shall be sentenced to imprisonment not exceeding 6 (six) years and/or a fine not exceeding Rp1,000,000,000 (one billion rupiah). Although the law has banned and threatened with severe threats against the perpetrators of gambling crimes, in reality gambling crimes through electronic media still occur. the factors causing the occurrence of gambling crimes through electronic media, and the efforts made to prevent and cope with the occurrence of gambling crimes through electronic media. In this study the data obtained through literature research and field research. Literature research is intended to obtain secondary data carried out by studying the legislation, literature and opinions of scholars relating to the issues discussed. Field research is intended to obtain primary data conducted by interviewing respondents and informants. From the research results it is known that the factors causing the occurrence of gambling crimes through electronic media are caused by economic factors, environmental factors, internet abuse factors, as well as entertainment factors. Efforts made to prevent and cope with the occurrence of gambling criminal acts through electronic media are carried out preventive and repressive measures.
