The ongoing industrial revolution 4.0, offers new ways of working and new types of skills in the production and service processes, automation and artificial intelligence have the potential to disrupt human work. This paper seeks to highlight the changing needs of skills in the labor market and their consequences for a framework for building relevant competencies in higher education. Based on the review of several authors, identified the need for challenges in high-skill activities related to digital technology, which requires technical, professional / methodological, social and personal competencies. Higher education needs to adapt education learning practices 4.0 that produce innovative graduates to meet the challenges of workforce needs in the industrial era 4.0
