HUBUNGAN ANTARA KEBIASAAN MENGGUNAKAN TAS RANSEL DENGAN ANGKA KEJADIAN LOW BACK PAIN PADA SISWA SMAN 2 MEULABOH ACEH BARAT

Abstrak

Abstract: Low back pain (LBP) is a clinical syndrome with pain manifestation and discomforts in the backarea of the body especially in the border of costae 12 to the glutea fold accompanying leg pain. Theprevalence of LBP in United State is around 15-20% each year. However, the number of low back pain inIndonesia is still unknown. The factors such as age, sex, body mass index and mechanical load are the mainfactors that cause low back pain cases. The research from various countries suggests that the bag weightshould not exceed 10% of the body mass. This study used an analytical method by incorporating the crosssectionalapproach.ThepurposeofthisstudyistoinvestigatetheprevalenceofLBPamongthestudentsofSMAN2Meulaboh,AcehBarat.Further,thisstudyaimstoknowtherelationshipofLBPriskfactorswiththeLBPcasesamongthestudentsofSMAN2Meulaboh.Thesamplewaschosenbyusingsimplerandomsamplingwhich consisted of 55 respondents. This study used Roland Morris disability questionnaire thathas been translated into Bahasa Indonesia. The data from the questionnaire was analyzed by using SPSSwith Chi-Square test. The results showed that the prevalence of LBP in SMAN 2 students was 56,4%.Bivariate analysis found that there is no relationship between age (p = 0,030), sex (p = 0,542) and bodymass index (p = 0,377) with the incidence of LBP. Therefore, this study reveals that there is a relationshipof using a backpack (p = 0,033) and bag weight (p = 0,030) with the incidence of LBP amongst thestudents of SMAN 2 Meulaboh.
