Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis is a disease of global concern, especially Indonesia is the third highest after India and China. Numerous studies have reported that living with tuberculosis and being on anti-tuberculosis drug therapy greatly impacts the quality of life. In Aceh Province, tuberculosis cases have increased every year, in 2017 (7,342 cases), 2018 (8,471 cases), and in 2019 (8,647 cases). The number of TB cases in Pidie Jaya Regency has also increased every year, in 2018 (111 cases) and in 2019 (123 cases). TB patients who undergo treatment, whether adherent or non-adherent, may experience a decrease in various physical, social, psychological, and environmental functions which will have an impact on decreasing the quality of life. The research objective was to describe the characteristics, quality of life, treatment adherence, and to determine the relationship between the characteristics and quality of life of pulmonary tuberculosis patients with tuberculosis treatment compliance in the Pidie Jaya Regency area in 2020. The research design used was descriptive analytic design with cross sectional approach, and the research sample was 55 respondents with non-probability sampling technique. The research was carried out from 04 to 19 August 2020 in the Pidie Jaya Regency area, and data analysis used logistic regression tests. The results of the multivariate study contained three factors related to tuberculosis treatment, namely: female respondents (OR: 5,9, P-Value 0,019); length of treatment at an advanced stage (OR: 10,7, P-Value 0,004); As well as poor quality of life (OR: 4, P-Value 0,044). It is expected to carry out direct monitoring and evaluation at the Puskesmas and health promotion and planning to further optimize the implementation of the pulmonary tuberculosis control program. Education from health workers for families with pulmonary tuberculosis to provide positive support for tuberculosis sufferers is highly recommended, because the patient's family has an effect on treatment compliance for pulmonary tuberculosis sufferers
