Analisis Faktor Risiko Kejadian Diabetes Mellitus pada Kelompok Usia di Bawah 45 Tahun di Kabupaten Pidie Jaya

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the major health problems, besides it can cause death due to complications to other organs such as the heart and kidneys. The prevalence of DM continues to increase and not only attacks old age but also young age. In 2016 diabetes cases in the under 45 year age group in Pidie Jaya District were 1,171 (48.5%). This study will examine risk factors for the incidence of DM in the age group under 45 years (a case study in Pidie Jaya Regency). This research is an analytic observational study using a case control design. The case population was 54 people with diabetes under 45 years of age, while the control was outpatient who did not suffer from diabetes. The number of samples in this study were 108 people. The results showed that the factors associated with the incidence of diabetes mellitus at the age of under 45 years were central obesity (OR = 6.91; 95% CI: 2.87-16.63), smoking (OR = 3.01; 95% CI : 1.35-6.71), diet (OR = 2.92; 95% CI: 1.28-6.65), physical activity (OR = 3.2; 95% CI: 1.44-7 , 08) and age (OR = 4.85; 95% CI: 2.13-11.04). The dominant factor for the incidence of diabetes in the age group under 45 years is central obesity (p value 0.0001), (OR = 6.68; 95% CI: 2.54-17.53). The conclusion of this study is that central obesity is the most dominant factor with diabetes. Age is not a confounding factor between the association between central obesity and diabetes mellitus. To the Pidie Jaya District Health Office to be able to screen for diabetes mellitus, especially in the age group under 45 years and increase education about diabetes risk factors such as maintaining body weight, eating fruits and vegetables, physical activity and not smoking.
