HUBUNGAN OBESITAS DENGAN TEKANAN DARAH TINGGI PADA REMAJA SISWA SMA NEGERI 8 BANDA ACEH KELAS X DAN XI
Abstract
Obesity and high blood pressure (hypertension) are two health problems that are increasingly common in adolescents, especially among students. This study aims to determine the relationship between obesity and high blood pressure in adolescents at Siswa'i Negeri 8 Banda Aceh. This study used an observational design with a cross-sectional approach involving 100 adolescents as samples. Measurement of obesity status was done by calculating Body Mass Index (BMI), while blood pressure was measured using an automatic blood pressure meter. The results showed a significant relationship between obesity and increased blood pressure in adolescents. Adolescents with obese status have a higher risk of developing hypertension compared to those who are not obese. These findings indicate the need for early intervention to address obesity and prevent hypertension in adolescents, through increased awareness of the importance of a healthy diet and adequate physical activity.
