Abstract

Obesity in school-age children is an increasing health problem, especially with lifestyle changes that lead to fast food consumption. This study aims to analyze the relationship between fast food eating habits and the incidence of obesity in school-age children in Kuta Baro District, Aceh Besar Regency. The research design used was descriptive with a cross-sectional approach, with a total of 34 respondents selected using the total sampling technique. Data on fast food eating habits and obesity status were collected and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that 35.29% of respondents were obese, with a higher proportion of obesity in the group who frequently consumed fast food (42.86%) compared to the group who ate with moderate frequency (30.77%) and rarely (28.57%). The results of statistical analysis with a p-value = 0.045 indicate a significant relationship between the habit of eating fast food and the incidence of obesity. This study confirms that frequent consumption of fast food is associated with an increased risk of obesity in children, so educational efforts and healthy eating interventions are needed to reduce the prevalence of obesity among school children.
