GAMBARAN TINGKAT KECEMASAN IBU TERHADAP KEJADIAN KEJANG DEMAM ANAK DI POLIKLINIK SARAF RSUD MEURAXA
Abstract
Febrile seizures are one of the neurological disorders that often occur in children aged 6 months to 5 years, which often trigger excessive anxiety in mothers. This study aims to analyze the level of maternal anxiety towards the incidence of febrile seizures in children at the Neurology Polyclinic of Meuraxa Hospital, Banda Aceh, and the factors that influence it. The study used a quantitative descriptive design with a survey approach using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A) questionnaire. A total of 50 mothers with children who had febrile seizures became respondents, purposively selected based on inclusion criteria. The results showed that most mothers experienced moderate anxiety (52%) and severe anxiety (36%), while only 12% of mothers had mild anxiety. The main factors contributing to severe anxiety were lack of knowledge about febrile seizures (78%), fear of complications such as epilepsy or brain damage (60%), and first experience with seizures (80%). Low education level (60%) and employment status as a housewife (56%) were also associated with high anxiety. The study concluded that comprehensive health education and psychosocial support should be implemented to help mothers manage anxiety about febrile seizures. Community-based interventions, digital media, and family involvement can be strategic steps in improving mothers' knowledge and confidence. The results of this study are expected to be the basis for the development of a more inclusive health education program at RSUD Meuraxa and surrounding areas.
