Abstract


To become a doctor, take a doctor's professional education. Constraints that are often encountered in implementation include learning objectives, problem solving exercises, direct observation and feedback on student activities, and professional learning stages with a curriculum that is still lacking direction. This study aims to determine the challenges faced by students of the professional stage in carrying out senior clinical clerks at the Datu Beru Takengon Regional General Hospital in 2019. This study is correlated with a cross sectional approach. This research was conducted on April 24 to June 17, 2019. The study population was all students of the professional stage in carrying out senior clinical clerks at the Datu Beru Takengon Regional General Hospital, with a total sampling technique of 90 people. Data were analyzed using chi square test. The results obtained that there is a relationship between learning methods (p = 0.003), educational environment (p = 0.032), family environment (p = 0.013) with the challenges faced by students of the professional stage in carrying out senior clinical clerkship. Conclusions and Suggestions: It is hoped that this research can become input for the Datu Beru Takengon Regional General Hospital in guiding and directing the professional stage students in carrying out senior clinical clerks, to improve their skills as a doctor.
