Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Humaniora undergo the following review process:

1. Initial screening (maximum 1 week). The Managing Editor checks each submission for fit with the Focus and Scope, compliance with the Author Guidelines and template, and originality using Turnitin (see Plagiarism Policy). Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements are returned to the authors or rejected without review.

2. Assignment to a Section Editor. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to a Section Editor with expertise in the relevant field.

3. Double-blind peer review (reviewer response within 1 week; review completed within 3 weeks). Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers under a double-blind policy, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other. Reviewers must not be affiliated with the same institution as any of the authors and must declare any conflict of interest. Reviewers assess originality, relevance to the field, methodological rigor, validity of results, clarity of argument, and quality of references.

4. Editorial decision. Based on the reviewers' reports, the Section Editor recommends one of the following decisions, and the Editor in Chief makes the final decision:

  • Accept
  • Minor revision
  • Major revision (the revised manuscript may be returned to the reviewers)
  • Reject

5. Revision (maximum 2 weeks). Authors revise the manuscript and submit a response letter addressing each reviewer comment. Revisions not received within the deadline may be treated as a new submission.

6. Final check and production. Accepted manuscripts undergo a second similarity check, copyediting, and layout before publication. Authors are asked to approve the final proof.

Average time from submission to first decision: 4–8 weeks.

Manuscripts submitted by members of the editorial team are handled by another editor with no conflict of interest, and the submitting editor has no access to the review process.

All review activities are conducted and recorded through the journal's online system (OJS).
