Publication Ethics
Jurnal Humaniora is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. This statement is based on the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Core Practices and applies to all parties involved in publishing: authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.
Duties of Editors
- Evaluate manuscripts solely on their intellectual content, without regard to race, gender, religion, ethnicity, citizenship, or political views of the authors.
- Keep all information about submitted manuscripts confidential.
- Not use unpublished material from a submission in their own research without the author's written consent.
- Decline to handle any manuscript in which they have a conflict of interest; such manuscripts are assigned to another editor.
- Ensure that every published article has been peer reviewed by at least two qualified reviewers.
Duties of Reviewers
- Assist editors in making decisions and help authors improve their work.
- Notify the editor promptly if they are unqualified or unable to complete the review on time.
- Treat manuscripts as confidential documents.
- Provide objective, constructive comments supported by clear arguments; personal criticism is inappropriate.
- Point out relevant published work not cited by the authors and report any substantial similarity with other publications.
- Declare any conflict of interest and decline to review where one exists.
Duties of Authors
- Submit original work that has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
- Cite all sources properly; plagiarism in any form is unacceptable.
- Present data accurately; fabrication or falsification of data is unethical.
- List as authors only those who made a significant contribution, and ensure all co-authors approve the final manuscript.
- Disclose any conflict of interest and all sources of funding.
- Notify the editor promptly if a significant error is found in their published work and cooperate in correcting or retracting it.
Duties of the Publisher
LPPM Universitas Abulyatama ensures that editorial decisions are independent of commercial or institutional interests, supports the editors in handling ethical issues, and maintains the permanent archive of published content.
Handling of Misconduct
Allegations of misconduct (such as plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate publication, or authorship disputes) are investigated following COPE flowcharts. Depending on the outcome, the journal may reject the manuscript, publish a correction, issue an expression of concern, or retract the article. Retracted articles remain online, clearly marked as retracted, with a retraction notice explaining the reason.
