Abstract

Abstract: Adherence to medication is a persistence in which a patient decides to take medication. The adherence mightbe correlated to some intrinsic factors which can be influenced by family support. Family should be helpful in fulfillingthe needs of the patient, supporting the patient’s adherence to medication, reminding the patient to value his or herhealth, and deciding the type of medication that will be received by the patient. Based on the preliminary research doneby the researcher and the data taken from Aceh Mental hospital, there were 11608 patients with mental illness thatvisited the polyclinic of the hospital in 2017 with 44.66 visits each day. This research was conducted from May 23 toJune 3, 2017 by distributing questionnaires to the respondents.
