How to Submit a Manuscript

All manuscripts are submitted online through this website. Manuscripts sent by e-mail are not accepted. Allow about 20 to 30 minutes if your files are ready. You can save a draft and continue later.

Before you start

  1. Read the Author Guidelines, the Focus and Scope, and the Journal Policies.
  2. Download and complete the files on the Supporting Files page.
  3. Prepare the manuscript, title page, and tables as .docx, and the signed forms and similarity report as .pdf. The upload screen shows the file types and size allowed.
  4. Make the manuscript anonymous: remove author names, institutions, and acknowledgments from the text, and remove your name from the file properties (in Word: File, Info, Inspect Document).

Step by step

  1. Register or log in. Choose Register if you do not have an account (tick the role Author), or Login. Use your institutional e-mail and add your affiliation and ORCID iD. If you choose Start a submission without being logged in, you are taken to the login page and returned to the submission form afterwards.
  2. Begin the submission. On the first screen, enter the title, tick every item of the Submission Checklist, agree to the privacy statement, and choose Begin Submission. Your draft is saved from this point.
  3. Upload files. Upload the manuscript as Article Text. Then upload each other file with its own component name: Title Page, Copyright Statement, Conflict of Interest, Similarity Report, Ethical Approval, and, if needed, Consent for Publication and Cover Letter. Name files like AM_Surname_ArticleText.docx.
  4. Add contributors. Enter every author in the order they should appear, with full name without degrees, e-mail, affiliation, country, and ORCID iD. Choose one author as the Principal contact (corresponding author).
  5. Enter the details. Add the title, abstract, 3 to 5 keywords, and the reference list in the fields provided. They must match the manuscript.
  6. For the Editors. Add any note for the editor, such as suggested reviewers (optional) or a statement about previous presentation.
  7. Review and submit. Check every step, then choose Submit. You receive a confirmation e-mail. If you do not, check your spam folder and contact the editorial office.

The names of the steps on your screen may differ slightly from this list; the order stays the same.

Continue a draft or follow your manuscript

Log in and open your dashboard. Your drafts and submitted manuscripts are listed there with their status. Send revisions and the Response to Reviewers table through the same submission, not by e-mail.

After you submit

  • The editor screens the submission within about 7 days. Manuscripts that do not follow the template, lack required files, or exceed the similarity limit are returned.
  • Reviewers are then invited, and you are notified of the decision by e-mail.
  • If the manuscript is accepted, you check the final proof before publication.
