Publication Ethics
Jurnal Aceh Medika is published by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Universitas Abulyatama. This statement sets out the ethical responsibilities of authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher. The journal follows the guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).
Authorship criteria
Authorship is based on the ICMJE criteria. Every author must meet all four:
- a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the work, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data;
- drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content;
- final approval of the version to be published; and
- agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work.
People who contribute but do not meet all four criteria are named in the Acknowledgments. Generative AI tools cannot be authors. The corresponding author confirms that all authors have approved the manuscript and the order of names. After a manuscript is accepted, the journal does not add, remove, or reorder authors unless the corresponding author gives a written reason that all authors approve; the editors decide whether to accept the change.
Authors
- Submit original work that has not been published and is not under consideration elsewhere; do not fabricate, falsify, or plagiarize data or text.
- Disclose funding, conflicts of interest, and the use of generative AI tools.
- Provide ethical approval and informed consent where the research involves people or animals, and a Data Availability Statement (see the Data Availability and Reproducibility policy).
- Report errors found after publication promptly to the editors.
Editors
- Evaluate manuscripts only on their academic merit, free from bias for the authors' identity, institution, or beliefs.
- Keep manuscripts and reviews confidential, and withdraw from decisions where they have a conflict of interest. A manuscript by an editor is handled by an editor who is not involved in the work.
- Ensure that advertising or any commercial income has no influence on editorial decisions.
Reviewers
- Review objectively and on time, and decline if they have a conflict of interest or lack expertise.
- Treat manuscripts as confidential, do not use them for personal benefit, and do not use generative AI tools during review.
Conflicts of interest
Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose financial and non-financial relationships that could be seen as influencing their work. Authors do this with the Conflict of Interest Form and the Conflict of Interest statement in the manuscript. Editors and reviewers declare a conflict to the editorial office and step aside from the manuscript.
Publisher
The publisher supports the editors' independence, provides the resources to run the journal, and cooperates with other journals and publishers in investigating misconduct. Concerns can be sent to lppm@abulyatama.ac.id and are handled under the Correction, Retraction, and Research Misconduct policy. Comments on published articles are handled as described in the same policy.
