Generative AI Policy
Jurnal Aceh Medika follows the Indonesian journal accreditation guidelines (Kepdirjen Sainstek No. 374/DST/D.D1/HM.01.01/2026) and COPE guidance on artificial intelligence. This policy applies to authors, editors, and reviewers.
1. Principles
- Generative AI tools (for example ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot) cannot be listed as an author or co-author. Authorship requires accountability that only humans can take.
- Humans remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, confidentiality, and integrity of the work and of every editorial decision.
- AI must not replace scientific judgement or editorial decision-making.
2. Authors
- Authors may use AI tools only to improve language and readability, or as a research tool that is described in the Methods section.
- Authors must not use AI to generate or alter data, results, images, figures, or references. Every reference must be checked against the original source.
- Every manuscript must include an AI Usage Statement before the References section. If no AI tool was used, write: "The authors declare that no generative AI tools were used in the preparation of this manuscript." If a tool was used, name the tool and version, describe what it was used for, and state that the authors reviewed and take full responsibility for the content.
- Undisclosed use of AI that is found later is handled under the Publication Ethics and Correction and Retraction policies.
3. Editors
- Editors must not upload manuscripts, or any part of them, to AI tools that store or learn from the content, because this breaks confidentiality.
- Editors may use AI only for limited technical help (for example checking formatting or the language of editorial correspondence) and must disclose this use within the editorial team.
- All decisions to accept, revise, or reject are made by the editors on academic grounds.
4. Reviewers
- Reviewers are not allowed to use AI in any part of the review. This includes uploading the manuscript or any part of it to an AI tool, and using AI to analyse, assess, or write review comments.
- By accepting a review invitation, reviewers confirm that they will follow this rule.
5. Detection and handling
The editorial team may examine manuscripts for signs of undisclosed AI use. Suspected violations follow the procedure in the Correction, Retraction, and Research Misconduct policy.
